1. The service and who operates it

PracticeAloud sells two products on this website and in its web app:

• The language tutor — voice lessons with an AI teacher, a personal study plan, homework and progress reports, sold as a monthly subscription.
• Citizenship test practice — practice for the US naturalization test. The civics questions are free to drill; mock interviews are sold as a one-time Exam Pass or Retest Pass.

PracticeAloud is operated by an individual entrepreneur (a sole proprietorship), not an incorporated company. For any question about the service or these terms — including billing and account matters — contact support@practicealoud.com.

These terms cover the website and the web app. The iOS app PracticeAloud: Citizenship is a separate product, sold through Apple and used without an account, with its own terms of use.

2. Who may use PracticeAloud

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a purchase. The service is not directed to children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data, as described in the privacy policy.

3. Your account

An account needs a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure. One account — one learner: plans, passes and progress are personal and cannot be transferred. You accept these terms when you create your account.

4. Payments

• Payments are processed by Stripe; plans, passes and prices are listed on the pricing page.
• Refunds and cancellation are described in the refund & cancellation policy, which is part of these terms.

The language tutor subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel any time from your account; access lasts until the end of the paid period.

The Exam Pass and the Retest Pass are single payments and never renew:

• Each pass adds 20 mock interviews to your account, to use within 90 days of purchase. Mock interviews not used by the end of the 90 days expire with the pass.
• A mock interview counts as used once you answer its first question, or once a spoken session has run for 10 minutes. One you leave before either happens costs nothing.
• The Retest Pass can only be bought by an account that has already bought an Exam Pass.

5. Fair lesson rules

• A lesson counts after 10 minutes of practice; an earlier disconnect refunds the lesson automatically.
• Rejoining within 5 minutes continues the same lesson.
• Unused lessons roll over one month (up to the monthly allotment), then expire.
• A lesson runs up to 45 minutes.

6. Citizenship test practice is not legal advice

PracticeAloud is not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency. We cannot promise a result on a test we do not administer, and nothing in the service is legal advice about your case.

7. Acceptable use

The service is for language learning and test practice. We may limit or suspend access when it is used for other purposes — including seeking professional advice (medical, legal, financial) or generating disallowed content. Warnings come first; repeated misuse leads to suspension.

8. Liability

The service is provided “as is”. We make reasonable efforts to keep it available and useful, but we do not guarantee a specific learning outcome or test result. Liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, to the extent permitted by law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; we will give advance notice of material changes by email. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
